i painted “surrender” after my beloved dog passed on. we’d been together for nearly my entire adult life, and i didn’t really know who i was without him. the grief was immense, and the only thing to do was surrender to it completely. in walking hand-in-hand with death, i found myself feeling so much closer to life. the gifts of love and grief changed me forever, and i’d never take it back for the world.
